The Do’s and Don’ts of Attending a Modesto Open House
When a homeowner is ready to sell their Modesto house they just want to get it sold. The process is longer and harder than most people realize before they are in the midst of it. They have to accommodate last minute showings, keep their house spotless, and deal with lowball offers from buyers.
Holding a Modesto open house is a good way to get multiple buyers through the house at the same time. They are a good way to let the seller get out of the house for a few hours so the buyers that are serious, or just curious, can check it out.
And while buyers can get away with a lot of things these days, there are some rules they should stick to when it comes to attending Modesto open houses.

Think about what you wear
Not that you should feel judged for what you are wearing to a Modesto open house, but think about how you want to present yourself to a real estate agent at the open house. If you like the house and want to be able to buy it, you want to give the impression that you can afford to buy the house. This might not be the right time to wear your oldest sweat pants and that t-shirt you’ve had since high school.

Use your manners
Take the time to speak with the real estate agent at the Modesto house. Sign in and be polite. If you are already working with an agent, or you don’t want to be pushed into working with the agent, simply let them know you have an agent you are already working with.
Make sure to ask the real estate agent if it is ok for you to take photographs of the inside of the house before you do so. You would want someone doing the same if the house and belongings were yours.
Look at the property and don’t insult the stuff
There is a good chance that the person living in the Modesto house doesn’t have the same taste as you and you may not like their belongings. Look past the items in the house to look at the house itself. Keep your opinions to yourself or talk quietly with the person you came with about the house. Not everyone needs to hear your conversation.
Don’t look through their belongings
It is normal when you go to a Modesto open house to open closet doors, cabinet doors and pull open a drawer. It is not normal for you to open any drawer or door that is on a piece of furniture. Make sure you do not cross the line from looking at the house to searching through the homeowners stuff.
Ask the right questions
Don’t be afraid to ask the real estate agent questions, but do it in a polite way. Ask about the traffic from the nearby school, what the district is like, and how many roosters the neighbor has next door. Listen to the questions that the other buyers are asking as they walk through the house as well. You never know when they are going to ask about something that you may have overlooked.
There is a lot that you can learn by attending Modesto open houses. If you are just getting started in your home search, it is a good way to see what is out there. Use your manners and proper open house etiquette and you will learn a lot even if the Modesto house isn’t “the one.”
